Oud is one of the most misunderstood notes in modern perfumery. Used well, it adds depth and warmth; used without care, it can dominate every other accord in the room.
Start with a sheer oud base—one spray on the collarbone or inner wrist, not both. Let it settle for fifteen minutes before you decide whether you need a second layer. Pair smoky oud with something clean: white musk, soft rose, or a sheer citrus opening works beautifully for day wear.
For evening, you can build more confidently: oud at the pulse points, a floral on the neck, and a woody amber through the hair. The key is contrast—let each layer have a job, not a fight.
At TOTE we compose oud lines to bloom slowly. If you are new to the note, begin with our trial formats and wear them across two full days before you commit to a bottle.
